My path to law was a bit of a winding one. I originally completed a BSc in Pharmacology in UCD and while I enjoyed the course, I wasn’t sure whether a career in the field was for me. I went back to college and studied Law, getting my LLB from UCC. During that time, I attended a McCann FitzGerald recruitment event in Cork city. The people I met there couldn’t have been friendlier or more helpful – traits which I’ve come to understand are really valued by everyone in the office.
I began with the firm in September 2022. This was a really exciting time; the last of the covid-19 restrictions were being lifted and there were lots of opportunities to get involved in social and community events with the firm. The energy and enthusiasm from everyone was clear then and remains clear now. From table quizzes to summer parties, the Social Committee makes sure there’s always something to look forward to.
In the office, I’ve sat with the Litigation and Construction Groups and have had the opportunity to work with significant clients on some really compelling matters. To give a sense of the variety of my work over the last year, I’ve assisted regulators in enforcement actions, worked on multimillion euro development financings, and given advice on a wide range of issues to some of the world’s biggest companies. Throughout, I’ve received the trust and mentorship of brilliant and talented colleagues. Every day presents a new and interesting challenge, made possible by the great support network here in McCann FitzGerald.
