Valerie advises on corporate and commercial matters, and has a particular expertise in renewables, energy and natural resources law.

Valerie has been centrally involved in the Irish energy market since its liberalisation in the early 2000s. She has extensive experience advising on renewables, clean energy and sustainability projects for project acquirers, developers and offtakers as well as the sector regulators, such as the Commission for Regulation of Utilities and the Single Electricity Market Operator.

Key highlights include advising:

  • Greencoat Capital on its acquisition of assets from Brookfield Renewable Ireland, deploying seed capital provided by AIB and the Irish Strategic Investment Fund (ISIF), its IPO admission to the London and Dublin Stock Exchanges, and subsequent acquisitions of Lisdowney wind farm and Dromadda More wind farm.
  • Gaelectric, on its disposal of a portfolio of wind farm assets to China General Nuclear Power Corp (CGN).
  • Mitsui, on its investment into Erova Energy Limited.
  • I Squared Capital, on its acquisition of Viridian Group from Arcapita.
  • Ervia on its 2015 pre-sale reorganisation of Bord Gáis Energy and its subsequent €1.12 billion privatisation and consortium sale.
