Experience

Sinéad advises clients on a wide spectrum of environmental and planning law issues. She has particular experience advising clients on complex infrastructure projects from project inception; providing support at navigating an evolving consenting framework, right through to advising on post-consent judicial review challenges.  

She is an experienced litigator; advising clients on judicial reviews in the Superior Courts, as well as acting in the defence of environmental and planning criminal prosecutions at District Court level.

Sinéad is the Chairperson of the Irish Environmental Law Association. She lectures on environmental and planning issues regularly, including to the Law Society and Trinity College Dublin.

Key highlights include advising:

  • Greenlink, on the consenting and financing of their electricity interconnector between Ireland and the UK;
  • PSE Kinsale, on the consenting of the decommissioning of the Kinsale gas fields;
  • Statkraft, on the North Irish Sea Array (NISA) offshore wind project, as they obtained one of the first Maritime Area Consents (MAC) in the State and submitted the project for one of Ireland’s first maritime planning consents;
  • Bord na Móna, on the consenting strategy for a number of onshore wind and solar energy projects;
  • Greystar, on its first development project in Ireland, an application for a large residential development in Monkstown; and
  • A number of other residential developers, including Ardstone, Tetrarch, Lioncor and Westridge, on their applications for large residential and mixed use developments.
