McCann FitzGerald LLP Appoints Deirdre Barnicle as Consultant

Premier Irish law firm, McCann FitzGerald LLP, today announces the promotion of Deirdre Barnicle to the position of Consultant to the firm in the financial services tax practice. 

Deirdre advises clients on complex tax matters and the Irish tax aspects of key transactions, particularly in the debt capital markets/securitisation, investment funds and corporate banking sectors.

Graduating with a degree in Business and Law from University College Dublin in 2001, Deirdre joined McCann FitzGerald in 2004 as a trainee solicitor, before quickly advancing her career within the firm, and becoming a Chartered Tax Adviser. Deirdre’s experience and role encompasses advising clients on all pertinent Irish tax issues in the financial services tax sphere including corporation tax, income tax, VAT, stamp duty, and withholding taxes. Deirdre also leads the provision of services by the firm to domestic and international clients in connection with Irish tax compliance obligations across all tax heads, direct and indirect.

In 2018, in recognition of her pre-imminence as an emerging star in the tax arena, Deirdre was awarded the ‘Rising Star: Tax’ award at the 2018 European Women in Business Law Awards.
